01Should I strip the plastic insulation off my copper wire before bringing it in?
Stripping the plastic insulation will get you a higher price per kilogram, offering a larger payout at the Bright Bare rate compared with leaving it on at the Insulated Wire rate. However, stripping wire takes significant time and effort. If you have thick industrial cables, stripping them is usually worth the hassle. For thin household wires or data cables, the time spent stripping often outweighs the price difference. We buy both types, so you can choose whatever is most convenient for you.

Domestic or No.1 Copper covers clean copper pipes, tubes and clippings with no solder, paint or excessive corrosion. No.2 Copper is unalloyed copper wire or pipe with solder, weld marks or heavy oxidation, and needs additional refinement, which lowers the payout.
